After several years as an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at Dartmouth Medical School, Dr. Richard M. Marks joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1998 as Director of the Foot and Ankle Division.

Dr. Marks received his undergraduate degree at Haverford College and his doctor of medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College in Pennsylvania. He then completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He followed this with a one year fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

He received the Magill-Rhoads Scholar award while at Haverford College and the Roger Michael-Johnson & Johnson Research Award while at Union Memorial Hospital.

His clinical interests include injuries to the Achilles tendon, arthroscopic ankle surgery,sports injuries of the foot and ankle, trauma and post-traumatic reconstruction of the foot and ankle as well as forefoot reconstruction and the surgical management of diabetic and rheumatoid foot and ankle disorders.
