Dr. Jeffrey P. Schwab became Chairman of the Orthopaedic Surgery Department in 1997.  He received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Minnesota in 1971, interned at Milwaukee County General Hospital and practiced family medicine in Watertown, WI for two years.

He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, joined the Orthopaedic Surgery Department as assistant professor in 1978, and was named professor in 1992. In 1988, he served as a fellow in AO trauma at the University Hospital in Basel, Switzerland.

Dr. Schwab's practice includes general orthopaedics, acute and reconstructive fracture surgery, leg lengthening, and cerebral palsy.

Dr. Schwab is currently on the active medical-dental staff at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, and senior attending at Froedtert Hospital.  His awards and honors include MCW Society of Teaching Scholars (1991) and Outstanding Teacher - Department of Orthopaedic Surgery (1983 & 1989).

Active in numerous professional organizations, Dr. Schwab has served on committees for the Milwaukee Orthopaedic Society since 1989 and served as president from 1993-1996. 

Dr. Schwab, named as the first Paul A. Jacobs, MD Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery endowed Chairman in October of 2008, has been listed in Milwaukee Magazine's Top Doctors Guide 2012.
