Dr. Tassone and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Center staff were recognized during the annual Health Care Heroes Awards, presented by BizTimes Milwaukee, in 2010.  Dr. Tassone was recently listed in Milwaukee Magazine's Top Doctors Guide 2012.

Dr. J. Channing Tassone joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2002.  He completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Wisconsin Madison in 2001.  He then went on to do his Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Texas, completing that in 2002 before joining the team at the Medical College of Wisconsin.  Dr. Tassone obtained his bachelor degree in Religion/Ethics from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, in 1992.  Continuing on, he obtained his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, Washington, in 1996, graduating with honors.

His clinical interests span the breadth of pediatric orthopaedic problems, and he has a particular interest in scoliosis, early onset scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, spondylolysis, pediatric spine trauma and cerebral palsy.  His research on scoliosis, developmental dislocation of the hip and the arthrogrypotic clubfoot have been presented at national meetings.  He is a reviewer for the Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research (JOSR) and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS). He also has been a co-author and/or presenter of numerous scientific published book chapters.

Dr. Tassone is active in numerous professional organizations such as Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and currently the president of the Wisconsin Orthopaedic Society (WOS).  Awards and honors include Teacher of the Year – Department of Orthopaedic Surgery MCW (2006) and Honorary Pediatrician of the Year – Pediatrics MCW (2004).

Dr. Tassone has been selected for inclusion in the 2011-2012 Best Doctors in America database.  Physicians selected for inclusion in this database represent the top 5% of all US board certified physicians. More Medical College doctors are named to the Best Doctors list than any other Wisconsin group practice or health care facility.
